Web 2.0 and Java in Action

Abstract

Java technologies are the backbone of many of the conventional web applications services in use today. The emergence of Ajax and Web 2.0 does not require that we scrap all of your web applications though it does cause us to think differently in how we design and manage our applications and services.

This presentation will address using the Java application programming interfaces (APIs) such as Servlets, JavaServer Pages, and JavaServer Faces to create interactive Web 2.0/Ajax applications. This talk will discuss integrating JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) with your Java applications, mashups, how to secure your Web 2.0 services, and how to prevent Cross Site Scripting attacks. This presentation will also discuss some of the new Web 2.0 work happening at Sun which include Project jMaki, Project Phobos and Project Dynamic Faces. This presentation will demonstrate some tool support for Web 2.0 and show how they can accelerate Web 2.0 and Ajax development.
