Dojo and Faces: Wild and Free!
Abstract
Part 1 - Building Dojo Faces Components
The first part of this JavaPolis university session will address key aspects of Faces component development, and show innovative techniques to build Ajax-enabled JSF components.
Jonas and John will also discuss how developers can best leverage Dojo widgets and how Dojo can simplify, excel and add that extra zing to Faces components.
Part 2 - Building Comet Faces Components
There is a common misconception among many end-users, consumers, and developers that Ajax is the ultimate solution for the Web, and that it can provide all the same functionality as a rich desktop solution. Sure, Ajax can cover most of our expectations for a rich client, mimicking functionality provided by a desktop application, but there is still one area that has yet to be fully integrated - scalable server-initiated message delivery.
This session will discuss Asynchronous Request Processing (ARP) and Comet techniques. In this talk Jonas and John will be using Faces, Dojo, Bayeux, Comet, ARP and Grizzly to illustrate how you could build server-initiated message driven components, and how to leverage these to build next generation Web applications.
