Safe Journey !

Almost 2.000 JavaPolians will be traveling this weekend (and the following days) to Belgium. The JavaPolis team wishes you a safe journey and would already like to welcome you in our small (but complex) country.

Once in Belgium you'll need to drink our beers (watch out with Duvel), eat our chocolates and taste our fries with mayonnaise

If you want to avoid long queues then make sure you pickup your badge on Sunday evening. If you're only attending the Conference then collecting your entrance badge (and welcome bag) on Tuesday afternoon could be a smart move.

Safe trip,

The JavaPolis Team

Practical Info

Entrance Pass and Welcome Bag

If you want to avoid the registration queues then please collect your entrance pass and welcome bag on Sunday evening from 19:30 till 21:00 and on Tuesday afternoon from 16:00 till 18:00.

The location is of course the MetroPolis venue, you'll find the entrance at the Business Center building.

On site registration is NOT possible!

Wireless

We have spent more energy and budget to make sure the wireless will work better compared to last year. Nevertheless please be gentle with our wireless, misuse will result in a blocked connection.

Wireless access is only available 'upstairs' where the cinema room entrances are located and within each of the presentation rooms. Upstairs we've 80 meters of tables for wired internet connection + power sockets for charging your portables. So don't hesitate and make sure you bring your portable.

Sun Microsystems has also provided a cybercafe in the exhibition hall.

JavaPolis Blogs

Every day we'll release a printed magazine named Parleys.
If you want to see your JavaPolis related blog in our daily Parleys magazine then contact us !

JavaPolis 2007 has a StarWars theme (view cartoon) so I hope you all view it as a challenge, as there are prizes for the best 10 costumes.

Available Costumes

I can highly recommend Pink Pineapple for those within easy shipping reach of the UK, as they provided me with some Jedi Robes and Light Sabres. There are plenty of other costume vendors out there.

I just dare you guys to turn up as Princess Leia. Unfortunately they don't do it in a size fit for a 6'4 male, so that rules me out.

(view as slideshow)

Princess Leia (Gown)   Princess Leia (Sexy)   Storm Trooper   Skywalker

Obi-Wan   Jedi Robe   Jedi Knight   Darth Vader

Darth Maul   Boba Fett   Yoda   Chewbacca

Bonus points for thong/string inspired adaptations!

Already 2.200+ JavaPolians registered

Only one month to go and we've already 2.200+ JavaPolians registered for our 5 days Java extravaganza. This is 35% more compared to last year same period!

We've ordered 3.000 welcome bags so once we reach that maximum we'll close registration... don't say I didn't warn you

JavaPolis nightlife map

FYI

Inspired by last years visit to Antwerpen and JavaPolis I have started making a little map of downtown Antwerpen. I put on locations that I think are important to know going to JavaPolis 2007, like busstop, Metropolis and the good bars.

Feel free to copy the idea and make the Antwerpen-JavaPolis-Where-To-Go-map for all us envying the belgians for the great beer I believe I have found a good part of the great pubs (some I went to last year, others I have read about), but others might exists. Also, where is the right places to eat, if at night you want to discover Belgian cuisine.

http://tinyurl.com/2hmq4q

See you in December.

Regards,
Thomas Saxtoft

This year the tram line in front of the MetroPolis venue will be in service, so this will hopefully resolve the taxi queue !
