Enabling Real-Time RIA applications with Java DB and Comet (Grizzly)

Abstract

As AJAX based applications are becoming the de facto technology when designing a web based application, it is very important that such application can react "on the fly", or real time to both client and server events. When data are updated either by clients or servers components, it is fundamental to have he capability to update the web based application in real time. The Comet request protocol can be used as a technique to enable real-time notifications and updates of both client and server components which are part of a web application.

This session will highlight how a new topology combining two open source projects such as Java DB (based on Apache Derby) and Grizzly (Comet) can enable these "real-time" rich Internet applications (RIAs). Several examples and demo's of real-time web applications will be showed to the audience .
